Situated under the mountain (Mounga) and on the coastline (Tangaroa) beside the Opunake Lake, the Cottage provides a home for those who need assistance with day to day living in a warm and friendly, homely environment. We strive to make people feel they belong here and are happy to call us home.
We have some of the best caregivers in the aged care business who take real pride in helping to make the Cottage the best place to live and have been with us for many years.

We believe in people, not patients and each resident is special and valued and their individual needs and desired experience is different and their care will be unique. Our professional work will be led by the principles of kindness, empathy, dignity, integrity, respect and trust.
We offer a superb activities programme with a huge variety of outings, crafts and entertainment. Our coordinator provides a fun 5 day a week programme that allows residents to maintain active lifestyles and to continue engaging in the activities they value and enjoy and still be part of the local community. Activities include : Outings in the van, regular visits to and from neighbouring rest homes, exercise classes, board games, entertainers such as Ukulele Dragons & Pat Dudley, Skittles & bowls challenges, baking time, housie and cards, Residents photo sharing time, Happy Hour & so much more
With fresh home baking on a daily basis and a huge variety of different meals offered, one of the biggest compliments we hear is how good the food is! Our wonderful cooks ensure all dietary needs are met and take pride in what they serve. With fantastic staff, beautiful meals, and a great social programme, you'll find Opunake Cottage Rest Home to be a wonderful place to live.
